Unified K9 Behaviour Centre? What is that?

The world of our dogs has been changing drastically from generation to generation.  We have taken their jobs.  Brought them into our homes. Treat them like family members.  However there are many elements of today’s urban dog life that can prove to be especially challenging for our beloved canines to navigate and cope with.  For me, I was made aware of these challenges when I got a young Golden Retriever pup named Casey.  Casey had a personality unlike most Goldens I have ever met.  Tough as nails, smart and maternal in nature, she had a desire to control dogs she met….sometimes quite aggressively.  Helping Casey learn how to survive in this human world became my mission.  Learning about dog behaviour became my passion and my experience with Casey inspired me to pursue this very rewarding career.  I wanted to help dogs like Casey learn how to live within the human world!

Fast forward a few years.   As I continued to work and learn my path crossed with Amanda Nickerson’s.  Amanda also had a passion for dog behaviour and understanding how dogs think!  Earning her Masters in psychology under the supervision of Dr. Suzanne MacDonald, a world renowned Animal Behaviorist,, Amanda has joined me to open a unique Canine behaviour centre in the heart of Newmarket, Ontario.  The focus of our services is to provide opportunities for people to learn about the dogs they chose to share their homes with while providing opportunities for the dogs to develop rich and meaningful relationships with their human partners.  For dogs that may be struggling to cope with the stresses of urban life, our team is dedicated to helping them change their emotional responses and build trusting relationships with those that care for them.

Joined by trainers Ed Michel and Dana Lambert Gosling , the team is committed to helping dogs and people live together.  Our programming is designed to prevent behaviour issues from developing and to enrich the lives of the dogs that we meet.  Through clinics, seminars, behaviour consultation services and education programs, all who enter our doors will be treated with respect and integrity.  Working in unity is the only way to help our canine friends live their best life!

Welcome to Unified K9 Behaviour Centre!
