Hoopers
Canine Hoopers is a dog sport that focuses on agility and communication skills. It is a low-impact alternative to traditional agility for dogs of all ages and physical abilities.
In Hoopers, dogs navigate a course consisting of hoops, barrels, tunnels, and other obstacles. Hoopers courses are typically designed to be less physically demanding than traditional agility courses, with a focus on smooth and flowing movements.
One of the main differences between Canine Hoopers and traditional agility is that jumps are replaced with hoops. This makes it a suitable sport not only for young, physically fit dogs but for dogs with joint issues, older dogs, or those that cannot jump due to physical limitations.
Hoopers emphasizes teamwork and communication between the handler and the dog. It requires dogs to follow verbal and visual cues from their handlers to navigate the course correctly. Handlers use body language, hand signals, and voice cues to direct their dogs through the obstacles.
